ALL HANDMADE POTTERY IS DISHWASHER AND MICROWAVE-SAFE UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED :)

All ceramic products are microwave and dishwasher-safe unless otherwise stated.

It all begins with a ball of clay. The clay is then wedged and placed on the wheel. There, it is shaped into the base form of the piece. It then will be set aside to dry to the perfect leather hard stage. Next, it is trimmed into a defined shape that is ready for any attachments such as a handle for a mug. It then will be set aside again to dry to a bone-hard stage (Greenware).

The first firing is called a bisque, where the pieces go into the kiln for the first time to burn off some of the chemical-bonded water. Bisque firing takes about 10 hours to reach temp and 12 hrs to cool. The bisque ware is then ready to be glazed and decored with color. Glazing can take some time as it required multiple layers and a drying process between each layer.

The second firing is the glaze firing. It can take about 12 hrs to reach temp and about a day to cool. From then on, the pieces are inspected and then ready for use.

How to best take care of dishes?

Ceramics are very durable but to make them last as long as possible there are some things you can keep in mind. Hand washing is always a better solution, but it is totally fine to put it in the dishwasher. Over time harsh dishwashing chemicals can eat at the glaze and alter the color, so having it on the top rack can help keep it more safe. Raw stoneware (unglazed areas) can be stained by food or drinks such as wine, coffee, or tomato sauce, so always wash it off as soon as possible to keep the clay body clean. As with most things, thermal shock can cause cracking or breakage, so avoid drastic temperature changes.

Are they microwave-safe?

Yes, all ceramic pieces are microwave safe unless otherwise stated. Some glazes such as matte glazes can get hotter at the surface than others, so just be careful! :)

Dishwasher safe?

Yes, all ceramic pieces are dishwasher safe unless otherwise stated. I recommend putting them on the top rack to preserve the color as long as possible, but if it ends up on the bottom rack, it will still be safe! Of course, handwashing is always the best and safest option. But….. life happens! Wash whichever way you see fit! :)
